After helping hundreds of children over a quarter of a century, a Falmouth pre-school teacher spent Wednesday morning celebrating her 25-year milestone with current and former pupils.

Jane Grocutt started working at the Crypt Preschool in 1991, and this week the group held a party in her honour, thanking her for all her hard work so far.

The children at the preschool enjoyed a morning of games and party food, while Jane was presented with flowers and cards.

Jane, who described herself as "overwhelmed" at the surprise party, said: "I have loved every minute of the last 25 years, working with such great staff and of course lots of wonderful children in that time, including children of children who came."

She added that it was "the best job ever."

Also at the preschool on Wednesday were two parents, Shenah Rose and Rebecca St Ledger-Renfree, who Jane had looked after when they attended as children, and who were now bringing their own children Delphine and Joshua to the Crypt. Jane's daughter Katy, who moved on from the preschool the year Jane started working there, also joined in the fun.

Rebecca said: "It's really nice, that connection from when we were younger. I was looking through the pictures from 1992 and she hasn't changed a bit."
