The family of a hero policewoman from Falmouth who died suddenly at her Truro home have set up a fundraising page in her memory.

Patrol officer Kimberley James, originally from Mawnan Smith, was 35 when she was found dead at her home in Gloweth on July 10.

She leaves behind two sons, and the family has set up a fundraising page to collect money for Penhaligon's Friends, a charity which supports bereaved children, and which has helped PC James' relatives following her death.

Her brother, Phillip James, wrote on the page: "Friend, police woman, tennis player, mother. She was many things to each of us, and we all miss her dearly.

"Since her passing the family has used Penhaligon's Friends, a Cornish charity focused on bereaved children. "Many people have asked to donate to her boys, or to a cause she believed in. The family would like that you send your donations directly to Penhaligon's."

PC James began her service as a student officer in Truro in Truro in June 20014 before moving onto Falmouth, where she stayed from June 2006 to August 2008, becoming a full police constable. She spent time working at other stations in Truro and Camborne, including a return to Falmouth as a patrol officer in 2013 and 2014.

PC James was nomintated for a bravery award in 2015, alongside her colleague PC Helen Newton, after they rescued a mother and her children from their car which had become trapped in flood water, with PC James carrying the smallest child to safety while PC Newton helped the others to escape.

Speaking following PC James' death, Chief Inspector Sara Crane said: “Kimberley was a loyal and enthusiastic officer who displayed devotion to duty; she was held in high regard by all those who served with her and the many outside agencies with whom she had formed excellent working relationships.”

A funeral was held for PC James on Friday at Mawnan Parish Church, and afterwards DCI Sharon Donald wrote on Twitter: "Sad difficult morning saying goodbye to our police sister Kim. RIP Thoughts rest with her two beautiful young boys."

The fundraising page has currently raised £2,060, more than doubling the £1,000 fundraising target, and anyone can donate by going to https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/KimberleyAnnJames
