Penryn's Neighbourhood Plan process began in earnest on Monday evening (8/8) as town councillors appointed a new steering group, but more members are still needed.
The new group includes members of Penryn Town Council, along co-optees Joanie Willet, Frances Crow, Simon Persighetti, Martin Northern, and John Kirby, but there is still one space which the team said could be filled by "someone from the business community."
The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group is about to begin the lengthy process of developing policies which would allow the Penryn to grant either full or outline planning permission for the types of development they want to see, and state where they would like to see it.
The process will end with a community referendum on whether or not to adopt the plan, which will become an official planning document as part of the Cornwall Local Plan.
A concil spokesperson said: "The steering group is particularly keen to hear from interested parties in the local business community to bring a different perspective to the group."
Anyone interested in getting involved in either the steering group or future focus groups should contact the town council on 01326 373086 or email admin@penryntowncouncil.co.uk.
