Boscwaen Park in Truro was filled with around 8,000 visitors recently for the return of Cornwall's biggest children's festival.

Playfest, run through a partnership between Truro City Council , Kernow Live and Swamp Circus Trust, has grown to provide a creative spread of performances, workshops, demonstrations stalls and displays for all ages of children and their families.

The festival showcases dance, theatre, circus and arts and crafts from youth groups and children centres across Cornwall, and has now been asked to design a similar event in Devon.

The Swamp Circus Big Top overflowed with audiences for several shows and the new youth band stage was very popular.

A £3 wristband gave children access to all the activities, such as facepainting, messy play, arts, green activities, story telling and inflatable play. This year free coaches were put on from King Harry's classic range of buses to bring people to the festival.

The festival coordinator, Kirsty Howard, said: "It was totally outstanding to see so many children having the time of their lives."
