The last two weeks of term have been extremely busy at Trelowan Preschool, which held its annual sports day, a sponsored walk and an end of year party.

The sponsored walk was organised to help raise funds for the refurbishment of the preschool's outdoor play and learning area.

Trelowan received a grant from the Big Lottery Fund for the greater part of the project but had to find an additional £2,000, and the walk raised raised £813, as well as being a healthy way for the preschool to do something all together: the Trelowan team, children, siblings, parents and grandparents.

The children also got to enjoy a school sports day, which was followed by a coffee morning and face painitng, while the end of year party meant everyone could wish the departing children good luck at primary school.

The money from the walk will help with refurbishments including safety flooring, a wooden teepee, a seating circle, a mud kitchen and a play bridge.

Preschool manager Carol Allen said: "The children have thoroughly enjoyed using the new equipment but were a little disappointed that the play bridge didn't come with it's own troll to chase them when they trip trap over it, [like in the Three Billy Goats Gruff]."

The fundraising continues with a summer fete at Penryn Rugby club on Saturday, August 20, at 1pm, organised by The Sir Fred Deadman Lodge.
