A pharmacy worker from Falmouth has braved the shave as part of Macmillan's nationwide fundraising campaign against cancer.

Wendy Day was at the Boots pharmacy next to Trescobeas Surgery on Friday afternoon to have her head shaved on behalf of the charity.

She said: "I have always wanted to support Macmillan, but I wasn't sure the best way to go about it. Then I saw this on Facebook and I thought 'that's for me.'

"I actually can't wait to have it done."

She added: "Everyone always does coffee mornings, and I just said I wanted to do something a bit more extreme."

Wendy had raised over £850 for the charity by the time she went under the clippers on Friday, and is hoping to collect over £1,000 by the time she is done.

Wendy's sister, Carmen Pellow carried out the majority of the shave, while her mother and daughter also took part, along with her boss.

She laughed throughout the event, and at one point even asked it there were any clippers for a closer shave.

Wendy thanked her family, friends and customers for their "kind and generous" donations, as well as her manager Jackie Craig for her support, including letting her have a collection box and sponsor form in the shop, and letting her be shaved at work, and said: "Without those donations this wouldn't be going ahead."
