A volunteer crew from Falmouth RNLI rescued three people after the ski boat they were in broke down in Falmouth Bay on Thursday afternoon.

The group in the six metre boat Wakey Wakey had been out to watch the yacht racing when it suffered complete engine failure at at around 3.45pm, and the coast guard was contacted for help.

The inshore lifeboat launched just before 4pm and headed out into Falmouth Bay, where a line was passed to the boat and the lifeboat started the tow back into Falmouth.

An RNLI spokesperson said: "The boat was taken to the Falmouth Marina in the Penryn River where it was safely secured at 5.08pm."
