An elderly woman from Falmouth is in hospital this evening following an alleged stabbing.
The woman, understood to be in her early 70s, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth following a "serious incident" in Wellington Terrace earlier today.
Police officers were called there just after 8am.
Superintendent Ian Drummond-Smith wrote on Twitter that officers had arrested a "local male" on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH).
A spokesperson later confirmed that a 77 year old man was being held at Camborne Police Station.
It has been reported that the woman is in a "stable condition" and that police have been quick to reassure locals that it was a "domestic incident."
