The Falmouth BID is delighted to announce the winners of the #LoveFalmouth photography competition for the month of August.

The fourth round of the competition has received a phenomenal 200 entries, with shots including sailing, sunshine and unique views from Falmouth’s biggest festival: Falmouth Week. Prize Partner Seasalt Cornwall, Sponsor 20/20, Media Partner The Falmouth Packet and campaign organisers the Falmouth BID had a difficult time judging! Photographs were judged on their subject matter, composition and relevance to the theme.

#LoveFalmouth is a photography competition organised by the Falmouth BID, designed to showcase the town as a top place to live, visit and experience. With a new theme each month, the competition awards one armature photographer with £50 worth of Seasalt vouchers, with the top five photographs forming part of a #LoveFalmouth exhibition, scheduled to take place in Falmouth at the end of the year.

September’s theme is #LoveCreative, and the judges are looking for elements of Falmouth that are inspiring, or creative ventures undertaken in the town. Hopefully some of Falmouth University’s talented students will share their creative work too!

Overall Winner- Jenna Robbins

Seasalt were very impressed with the light and perspective of Jenna’s photograph, taken from her boat whilst sailing in the bay.

Jenna said: "I love sun, sea, & sailing and this photo captured what #LoveSummer #LoveFalmouth means to me. I took this photo in July whilst sailing past Pendennis to watch the championships in the bay. The boat pictured is a Sigma 36, which we regularly race on a Friday night from the Royal Cornwall Yacht Club. "

Richard Wilcox, Falmouth BID Manager said:

“The #LoveFalmouth campaign is another way we hope to connect people whether they be residents or visitors, and judging by the fantastic response to August’s theme, it has struck a chord! We were lucky to receive a lot of brilliant images making judging all the more difficult but in the end, five images really stood out as being reflective of the glorious Falmouth summer time. We look forward to seeing September’s #LoveCreative entries!”

August’s #LoveFalmouth theme is #LoveCreative and from 1st September the competition invites a new round of entries.

To be considered, images will need to be uploaded to the Falmouth Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts using the hashtags #LoveFalmouth and #LoveCreative, or via e-mail sarah@falmouth.co.uk.
