Anyone looking to take part in the Mawnan Fun Run on September 25 has just over a week left to register.

Excitement is building as the medals have arrived in the village ahead of the event, which will see competitors take part in 5k or 10k runs, with a one mile fun run for the children.

The event is sponsored by family business Cornish Holiday Cottages, and company director and former Mawnan School pupil Emily Boriosi said: “It’s great to have the opportunity to give something back to the village by supporting this local community event and helping to raise money for Mawnan School PTA and other local charities. The medals and goody bags will be presented to everyone who pre-enters the race so you need to ensure you enter by midnight on Sunday, September 18, to make sure you don’t miss out.”

The annual Fun Run is organised by Falmouth Rotary Club and always receives excellent support from local businesses. This year there are some great prizes for the male and female winners of the 5k and 10k races, including those in the over 60s category, who will be treated to meals donated by The Cove at Maenporth, The Greenbank Hotel, The Trelawne Hotel and Samphire Bistro in Falmouth

The event will start at 9.45am with a warm up from Gillian Sadler and the team from Embrace Dance Fitness in Carwinion Playing Field. The 5k and 10k races start at 10am, followed by the children’s fun run.

The event is open to serious runners or people after a new challenge, and entries can be submitted online and further details can be found at mawnanfunrun.org.uk/entries
