UPDATE: Western Power has said it is working to return supply to the last customers in Penryn who were affected by a power cut this morning.

The company said in a statement that 2,393 customers in St Thomas Street and Saracen Way were affected by a trip on the circuit at around 10.30am today, but by 11am, 1,776 customers had the power restored.

A spokesperson said at around 3pm: "Switching on will continue until the remaining customers are back on supply which should be within the next half an hour.

"The fault is down to third party damage and we are working on the issue and we will be investigating."

Around 60 properties in parts of Falmouth and Penryn remain without power following a cut earlier this morning.

There was traffic chaos at Penryn Bridge after the cut affected traffic lights, leaving no indication as to which of the four lines of traffic should proceed.

Penryn town clerk Michelle Davey said: "We’ve been out all across Penryn but it’s back on now."

Around 40 homes in the Bickland area, with postcodes TR11 2, TR10 8, TR11 5, TR11 4, are currently without power, with Western Power expecting to have them restored by 1.30pm.

And a further 19 in the Oakfield area with postcode TR11 2 have also lost electricity, with an expected fix at around 2pm.
