There was music and dancing this morning at Events Square as the Falmouth Oyster Festival opened for its 20th year.

Children from all five Falmouth primary schools performed a dance routine in the festival pavilion at the opening of the festival, before a group from Falmouth School took to the stage for a poetry and dance piece.

The festival was opened by Chris Eden, the first Cornish-born Michelin starred chef, who shared some of his culinary secrets with an audience enjoying oysters and champagne - among other tipples.

The event, which brings together foodies, fishermen, musicians and chefs, will run in the tent on the square from Thursday to Sunday, and alongside bars seling oysters and drinks, there is also a food and craft market.

Highlights will include the Oyster Parade on Friday from the moor at 3.15pm, the oyster shucking competition on Saturday at 3pm and the Falmouth working boat race in the Inner Harbour on Sunday at 11.30am.
