Trustees, staff and supporters of a Penryn charity packed the Alverton Manor Hotel recently for an inaugural charity ball.

Adventure charity BF Adventure's first Charity Ball saw tables sold out and a total of £9,000 raised with an auction of promises, sponsorship from local businesses, and music from the Gracenotes.

The auction, led by Paul Le Bas from Millerson, raised over £6,000, while local restaurants supported the event with donations of champagne which added a little sparkle and a twist to the evening and a raffle was run which added to the overall total.

All proceeds from the event went directly towards supporting young people in Cornwall and BF Adventures focused programmes.

Debbie Osborne, vice chair of trustees for BF Adventure, said: "It was an incredible evening where the community once again pulled together with some incredible auction prizes, sponsorship, bids and attendance. The support in the room was fantastic which made for a brilliant atmosphere and a great night. We had some wonderful feedback from the evening asking; when are you doing it again? We wouldn’t want to miss it for the world."

Chief executive Adrian Richards added: "It was an incredible night which raised much needed funds for the charity. I would like to express a heartfelt thanks to everyone that donated, sponsored and supported this event. We have raised a significant amount of money which will make a real difference to young people in Cornwall. Thank you."
