The Penryn and Falmouth Foodbank has received a funding boost of more than £200 thanks to a fundraising event in Mabe.

Bridie Toft from the foodbank was presented with a cheque for £215.46 on behalf of the people of St. Laudus Church, Trenoweth Methodist congregation and the community of Mabe.

The money was raised by the annual Mabe Charity Harvest Auction held at The New Inn in Mabe.

Bridie Toft from the foodbank said: "This very generous donation has come at the right time as it will help with our running costs like heating and lighting our welcoming space and food warehouse over the winter months."

The foodbank, which was founded at the Highway Church in Penryn in 2009, handed out just over 1,000 emergency food packages last year.

After losing some of its funding it recently asked for help from local businesses and churches, as well as individuals, to help ensure both short-term and long-term funding for the Foodbank.

The foodbank is open three days a week, and more information can be found at penrynfalmouth.foodbank.org.uk
