A former Falmouth supermarket worker and award winning baker has swapped pricing for icing as she opens her first ever coffee shop in Penryn.
Cup cake maker Jayne Burt spent 23 years working at Iceland and baking on the side, winning international cupcake design awards along the way, and has just opened up Crumbs coffee shop on Higher Market Street.
She said: "This is a complete change of direction for me, the cupcakes were just my hobby. It's quite nerve wracking, but exciting, so I hope it takes off really."
Jayne usually has a stall during events in Penryn, such as Fair Day, where she offers more than 22 different flavours of cupcake.
She said: "I decided to open a coffee shop so people can have cakes and coffee really. Here it will be more about the flavours than about the design side of it. People will be able to order bespoke cupcakes if they want them.
"I'm hoping people will come in and suggest what flavours they would like and I can make them fresh for the next day."
