King Charles School in Falmouth opened its doors to parents on Thursday (20/10) ahead of plans to revamp its outdoors area.

The school is working with the Eden Project on a project to develop the space as an area for pupils to play and to learn.

So far the team from Eden has worked with pupils and staff to try and find new ideas, and parents were invited in on Thursday to examine what had been done so far and to give their own ideas and feedback.

Head teacher Claire Fortey said: "The idea here today is to share some of the initial ideas with parents, for parents and children to give some of their ideas, and ultimately Eden will create a five year plan for us from that.

"We have a very big outside space, so it's about making the most of of what we have."

Gill Hodgson, education specialist at the Eden Project, said: "What has been lovely about this project is we have talked to every student in this school, apart from year one. They have all been absolutely delightful. We have had the opportunity to speak to all the teachings assistants, the teachers, and the PTA, everybody is involved.

She added: "Hopefully by Christmas we will have completed the project and have a plan. We will be talking about choosing one of the projects to get a start on and get the parents involved.

Mrs Fortey added that the school had a small budget for some of the work, and would be seeking funding, with Ms Hodgson adding that having a plan could help the school to secure finances for the any scheme.
