A police car is currently blocking the exit from the Hill Head Roundabout leading down to the Ponsharden Roundabout, forcing all traffic onto the bypass. As a result there are long queues heading out of Falmouth, with a heavy build up of traffic also reported between Kernick Road and Falmouth Road.

There is also congestion on the B3292 Commercial Road to the Quarry Hill junction.

Earlier there were warnings that the road near the Ponsharden Roundabout was only just passable because of flooding and as conditions worsened officers took the decision to shut the road entirely.

There have also been road closures in place in Dracaena Avenue at the crossroads.

Water has been pouring across the road from a nearby farm, resulting in a lake forming outside the Pets at Home, which covered both lanes of the road and the pavement.

Police have said t hat although much of the water has now subsided, mud and silt remains covering the road and a clean up is now underway.
