The murder trial of two men accused of killing a Falmouth pensioner in three years ago opened on Tuesday at Truro Crown Court.
Trewen Kevern, 23, of Tresillian Road in Falmouth, and Kevin Cooper, 35, currently of HMP Exeter, both stand accused of killing former driving instructor David Alderson in January 2014.
Mr Alderson, who lived in Old Hill, was 72 when his body was found, nine miles from his home, by a dog walker at the disused mine workings of Wheal Maid near Carharrack.
Kevern, who has been granted bail, was at court on Tuesday for the start of the trial, while Cooper was unable to be brought to Truro from Exeter due to industrial action by prison officers. Both men have entered pleas of not guilty.
The trial will continue on Thursday, when the jury is expected to be sworn in and proecution will begin to make their case.
