A former Falmouth couple have launched a heartfelt appeal to try to find their beloved dog who went missing during a weekend walk.

Newlyweds Holly and Nicholas Prisk are asking the public to look out for female dachshund Crouton after she went missing during a walk between Carnon Downs and Devoran on Saturday afternoon.

The dog managed ran into bushes after slipping her collar when chasing rabbits on farmland, and the couple have said the little coat she was wearing "was found in bushes near to where she went missing."

A large search was organised at 10.30am on Tuesday, although at the time of going to press it did not appear that Crouton had been found.

Announcing the search, Holly wrote on Facebook: "She's most likely stuck in the gorse down a hole in this area."

The couple have received many offers of help in response to their Facebook campaign, and are asking anyone who can to search areas around Carnon Downs, Point, Feock, Bissoe, Devoran and Playing Place we'd be very grateful.

They wrote: "She was last seen in the farmland behind Devoran and Point on Saturday late afternoon so she may have travelled far. She has no collar or coat on so we are hoping someone has picked her up but no word yet."

They are now offering a £200 reward if anyone finds Crouton, who is microchipped and registered to Pets At Home in Truro.

Anyone who finds Crouton is asked to call Holly on 07968 783320 or 07790 154588.
