A group of volunteers have been digging in to ensure Falmouth blooms into colour come spring with a spot of bulb planting near Pendennis Castle.

The team from Visit Falmouth joined a team from Cormac to plant hundreds of daffodil bulbs at Melville Gardens on the seafront, as part of the preparations for the spring festival.

Rosemary Hobbs, of Visit Falmouth, said: "It's a wonderful day for it, we're really glad it wasn't raining.

"We are doing something for the community, getting Falmouth looking really good for locals and visitors alike.

"These are all different varieties of bulbs, hundreds. They are going to be blooming from January through to May."

Jacqui Owen, community engagement officer, said as well as bulbs sponsored by different companies and groups, they had been given around 3,000 extra by the supplier Ron Scamp as his selling season came to an end.

She said: "We are going round planting these, working with schools and community groups."
