One B&Q employee may be wanting a nice warm hat after a recent charity headshave proved a great success.

Scott Knowles, a customer advisor at the chain's Penryn store, went under the clippers to raise cash for the fight against pancreatic cancer as part of a regional series of events.

Stores are organising a range of charity activities in memory of the brother of the company's divisional manager, who recently died from the disease.

Scott said: "We were just talking, I was talking about ideas for costumes and the idea just came up.

"My partners grandad died of cancer recently, so I though I would do a charity head shave."

He added: "It went really well, there was quite a few people watching. We said whoever gave the most money got to shave my head.

"The biggest amount was £15 from Paris Washington, a staff member here."

Asked how it felt, Scott said: "Different. I felt like it was a good cause so I had a good feeling about it."

The event raised just less than £1,300, which will all go to charity to research pancreatic cancer.
