A local charity is set to host its third annual Family Fun Run in Trelissick Gardens.

Merlin MS Centre, Cornwall's only MS therapy and support centre, will be hosting the race on Sunday, July 16.

Held in the grounds of the National Trust Property, the race begins at 10.30am.

Starting in front of Trelissick House, runners weave around ancient oaks with epic views of the Fal Estuary.

The fun run is mainly aimed at families, but is open to anyone who wishes to give it a go.

Entry fees and any sponsorship raised will go to the Merlin MS centre, which supports people with a range of neurological conditions.

Lucy Chappell, community fundraiser for the charity and the event organiser, said: “For many children and adults alike, running 1.5k or 3k will be a real challenge and one that will give them a sense of achievement.

"For those living with a long term neurological condition like multiple sclerosis, life can present daily challenges.

"Whilst there is no minimum sponsorship, we do ask runners to please seek sponsorship.

"Cornwall has the highest rate of MS in mainland Britain and every penny raised will make a difference and help us to continue to provide our services to over 1000 registered users, their carers and their families.

“We are incredibly grateful and really excited to be working again in association with National Trust Trelissick to organise for the third year, this popular Family Fun Run, and are looking forward to lots of keen runners of all ages to make sure this is a fun, but challenging, event.”

Entry costs just £5, or £7 on the day, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Every runner will receive a medal, and participants are encouraged to wear fancy dress, and there will be prizes for the best fancy dress as well as the runner who raises the most sponsorship.
