ORIGINAL COPY: Police have cordoned off St Thomas Street in Penryn following a call over a concern over a resident's welfare.

Officers were called at 4.10pm due to what a force spokesperson said was "concern over the welfare of a man."

The spokesperson added that the call was initially made by the ambulance service.

The street has been sealed off and armed police are on site, while a negotiator is also being called.

An unnamed neighbour said: "There's always trouble up there, there was an incident a while ago when the police had to attend.

"They have a really aggressive dog, it barks and jumps up whenever we walk past.

"I heard that someone was going to be sectioned and locked themselves inside."

And another neighbour said: "Earlier there was someone I knew sat outside and there was blood on the floor, and my other half said she heard some shouting from inside."
