An inquest has been opened into the death of a Falmouth man who died following an incident with a police Taser on Tuesday night.

The coroner confirmed that an inquest into the death or Marc Cole, a 30 year old painter and decorator, had been opened and adjoruned today.

Mr cole died earlier this week after police were called to Langton Road following reports of a "concern for welfare", and arrived to find a man with a knife.

It was reported that he had been seen walking around, cutting himself with the knife, and officers then used a Taser on him.

He was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The matter was later referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC), and an IPCC spokesperson said: “The investigation follows a mandatory referral from Devon and Cornwall Police and IPCC investigators have been deployed.”
