Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team were kept busy with two rescues over the bank holiday weekend, while one off duty officer helped a man who had collapsed in the street.

On Saturday at around 11.20am the team was asked to help with the transfer of a woman with a back injury who was being brought to shore on board a locally owned RIB's.

A spokesperson said: "The vessel came alongside the lifeboat pontoon and we were able to quickly assess the casualty who was in a considerable amount of pain.

"Given the pain level and us not carrying any pain relief, we called on assistance from Falmouth RNLI who sent a medic with some further equipment and a some crew members over to assist."

After making the casualty comfortable, coastguard and lifeboat crew, along with paramedics, removed her from the RIB to the pontoon and on into a waiting ambulance.

Then on Monday afternoon the team was sent to a report of an unconscious 12 year old girl on the rocks at Grebe Beach near Durgan.

A spokesperson said: "Once on scene following assessment from attending paramedics, we packaged the casualty into our stretcher and using the 'caterpillar' technique, we conveyed the casualty across the beach and up the slope to the waiting ambulance.

Police also attended the incident, which began at around 5.20pm, and once brought off the beach the casualty was taken on to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Truro.

The team wished both casualties "a speedy recovery."

Meanwhile on Friday a member of the team was going about his day job when he found a man collapsed and unconscious in the street.

The incident happened at around 5pm, and the team member immediately to the man, called for an ambulance and rendered appropriate first aid before waiting with the casualty until paramedics arrived.

He then returned to work and carried on the rest of his day.
