Cornwall Hospice Care will be returning to Trebah Garden later this month for its annual Reflections event which offers people the chance to come together and remember their loved ones in peaceful outdoor surroundings.

The event, which is supported by WJ Beswetherick and Sons Funeral Directors, is being held on Sunday, June 25. Anyone who would like to take part is invited to write a personal message of remembrance and attach their tag to a Gerbera flower, which is then in turn placed on a wicker raft in the shape of an open lotus flower. With some gentle background music provided by classical guitarist, David Hayes, the raft is gently rowed away.

Clare Bray, tribute and in memory fundraiser for Cornwall Hospice Care, said: “This year we have moved our Reflections event from a midweek afternoon to a Sunday, meaning that hopefully more people will be able to personally attach their messages to the raft.

"It’s a very moving, but beautiful afternoon spent on the tranquil beach at the bottom of Trebah Garden. I’m looking forward to seeing as many people there as possible, but if you are unable to make it, please let me know and we can make sure your message is put on the raft.”

Despite the event being organised by Cornwall Hospice Care, anyone is welcome to take part and those being remembered don’t have to have been cared for by the hospices. Clare added: “As with all of our remembrance events, we would love anyone to join in, but by remembering your loved ones with us you’re also supporting the work of a truly Cornish charity. Your donation will help us to continue caring for patients living with a terminal illness and their families.”

Trebah Garden will be open free of charge to participants from 4pm and the raft will be floated at about 5pm. To find out more, or to write your message, visit cornwallhospicecare.co.uk or call Clare on 01726 66868 (option 3).
