AWARD winning fish and chip shop Harbour Lights is launching a search for Falmouth's community heroes with cash prizes and fish and chips for a year for the winner.

As part of its legacy of winning fish and chip restaurant of the year in 2017 Harbour Lights says it wants to extend the celebrations through to 2018.

"We can’t think of a better way of recognising how Falmouth is very much part of the unique offering we have at the Harbour Lights than recognising the hero’s we have amongst us," said a spokesman. "To find and celebrate the incredible and special humans we have in our local community we are launching our Community Hero Awards for 2018. This is the first year and we are super excited about this project.

"There are other awards, but not like this one. This is an opportunity to recognise someone in Falmouth or the surrounding villages for their hero like actions.

"We are looking for nominations from anyone who feels they know someone who deserves some recognition for their dedication and hard work for a good course, or the continuing support to the greater good or general good egg who Falmouth really feels their impact.

"Like all good awards there is a beautiful unique locally sculptured gong to win, and prize money for the top three winners to support their chosen good deed.

"As this is a slightly unique award we are also keen to ensure that the winner receives fish and chips for the whole of 2018 as part of their prize."

There's not long to get voting as the Falmouth Community Hero Awards presentation ceremony for the shortlisted finalists and their supporters will take place at Harbour Lights on Monday, January 29.

Applications can be made online at harbourlights.co.uk/heroawards via e-mail hello@harbourlights.co.uk or collect an application form in person at the restaurant or takeaway at Harbour Lights.
