Children across Cornwall are being invited to get muddy for a good cause - at a new event from Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

Stithians Showground has been chosen to host the county’s first ever Race for Life Pretty Muddy Kids, on Sunday, September 2.

Pretty Muddy Kids will be an obstacle course designed just for children - with added mud.

From scramble nets and space hoppers to mud chutes and muddy pools, children will face a range of fun and muddy obstacles to crawl under, clamber over and charge through.

At the same time as having fun with friends, children taking part will be raising funds to beat cancer sooner and support patients receiving treatment for it.

Amy Salmon, Cancer Research UK’s Devon and Cornwall event manager, said: “We can’t wait to bring Race for Life Pretty Muddy Kids to Stithians Showground for the very first time. We hope children will rally their friends, family and schoolmates to sign up and make a splash for Cancer Research UK.

“Race for Life events are not competitive and children can complete the Pretty Muddy Kids course at their own pace - climbing, jumping, walking and laughing their way around. Whether they plan to wade their way through the mud or make a big splash, every muddy step they take will help to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”

The Race for Life series of events in Cornwall also includes the adult version of the Pretty Muddy course, which will also take place at Stithians Showground on the same day.

Earlier in the year the 5km Race for Life events will be taking place along Falmouth seafront on Sunday, May 13 and at Richard Lander School in Truro on July 1.

Anyone booking their place in advance this January, for any of the events, will receive a 30 per discount off their entry fees.

To sign up visit raceforlife.org or call 0300 123 0770. The entry fee for Pretty Muddy Kids is £10, with the event open for both boys and girls aged five to 12, with a minimum height requirement of 1.2 metres. All children must be accompanied by a supervising adult, who will have free entry to the event.
