A FALMOUTH teenager is pursuing his dream to become an actor and director - and he isn’t wasting any time.

With support from his mum, Claudia, Avan Lindemann is hoping to put together his film called Long Ago in Gauwn.

The 13 year-old will be story boarding, editing, composing, choreographing fight scenes, acting and co-directing the film.

Avan said: “Luckily, we know a lot of crazy people in Cornwall like us who want to support the movie and be a part of it. They all come from the creative industries and like us they have many strings to their bow.”

A huge fan of Lord of the Rings, Avan hopes to follow in the footsteps of Peter Jackson, directing and starring in fantasy films.

He is a member of the Cornwall Youth Theatre Company and interests also include martial arts, choreography and music.

Claudia is a dancer, particularly distinguished in flamenco dancing, and a black belt in karate.

Claudia has written the script with the help of Avan and made the costumes, whilst also acting in the film too.

Avan adds: “My mother has made many key costumes, costume making is really her thing, but I have a few cool ideas as well. I’ve been doing a lot of the storyboarding, learning about camera angles and different areas where you can focus in.” Together the duo have also founded the Dúnedain Film Productions, and are teaming up with Shirt and Tie Productions, with Daniel Philbrooks at the head of cinematography.

A campaign has been launched to raise funds for their film through crowdfunding, as they need to pay for a professional cinematographer, hire equipment, costumes, props, technicians and expenses for actors.

Claudia said: “This genre costs a lot of money, you need the leather, the swords, the horses – all of this is extremely expensive.

“We have £600 in the crowdfunding which is ridiculously little, but with that I can make more costumes and pay a castle for the location."
