The Helford River Children’s Sailing Trust celebrated its 21st birthday with a fundraising dinner at Fishmongers’ Hall in the City of London on 17 April with HRH The Countess of Wessex in attendance.

Among the guests were long-time friends and new supporters of the Trust invited by the Trustees and the family of the late-Founder, John Green. Lead organiser of the event, Coralie Green said: “The dinner was an excellent way to mark the success of the past 21 years of the Trust and raise funds for our exciting future plans.”

To mark the on-going relationship the Trust has with schools in Helford and the surrounding area, Constantine Primary School made 18 boats for the occasion which were displayed on diners’ tables in the Fishmongers’ Hall.

Guests took part in an auction to bid for unique and exciting prizes kindly donated by prestigious local and national businesses. HRCST Co-Chair, Charles Richardson said, “we were thrilled with the outcome of the evening, which raised just under £100,000 for our future activities.”

The funds raised will go towards the Trust’s plans to expand its operations on the Helford River and open a National Centre for Water sports Excellence catering for children with special educational needs and disabilities at Trevassack Lake.
