Falmouth lecturer's death shocks campus

A well-known figure and key member of University College Falmouth has died suddenly and unexpectedly.

Jim Hall, course leader of the BA Honours Journalism degree, died on Sunday afternoon.

His death has shocked staff, who have said he will be sadly missed.

Mr Hall has led the journalism course for many years and tutored hundreds of students that have gone on to become professional journalists in print, radio and television.

He has been based on both the Tremough campus at Penryn and the Woodlane campus in Falmouth.

Mr Hall also had links with the Packet, which works closely with journalism students at the university.

University College Falmouth is currently putting a tribute together for Mr Hall, which will be placed on the Packet website when it is released.

Jim Hall was an inspiration to many and will be sadly missed. He always looked out for the best interests of the students he was responsible for and was the motivation for many of us, to get us through our course.

To hear of his sudden and unexpected death is extremely sad. He had an encapsulating and magnetic personality that will be sorely missed.

Jim Hall had time for everyone... he was a pragmatist humanitarian who had the gift of encouraging his students to believe in themselves and go on to achieve goals they never dreamed of. I am honoured that I was lucky enough to have been taught by him.
