Falmouth School and Penryn College competed against dozens of other schools from Cornwall and Devon as they fought for the honour of the winning the Army School’s Challenge Shield.
The teams of ten students took part in a series of physical and mental challenges which gave them a small taste of life in the armed forces at the contest on HMS Raleigh in Torpoint.
Organiser Major Arthur Norman-Walker said that it was an excellent three days of competition.
“It’s really rewarding to see young people learning to work together as a team, developing skills and putting their mental and physical abilities to the test; these are the sort of qualities we look for in young people when they join the armed forces.”
The tasks included paintball, an obstacle course and a water command task and each required the team to demonstrate leadership, teamwork and co-operation and every day ended with a tug of war competition.
Sir John Hunt Community College, Pilton Community College and Bodmin College came out as the eventual winners.
