Kea murder gunman begins life in prison

3:12pm Monday 20th July 2009

A 24-year-old man began life in prison today after being convicted of shooting and killing Bissoe businessman Adam Hustler.

Jonathan Cock pleaded guilty to murder at Truro Crown Court. He also admitted causing grievous bodily harm with intent, leaving 41-year-old Mr Hustler's wife Amanda with serious injuries, as well as brandishing a firearm with intent to endanger life.

Cock was given a life sentence and must serve at least 25 years before being considered for parole.

The tiny hamlet of Porth Kea was left shaken to the core last September when Cock arrived at the Hustlers' luxury home brandishing a high powered hunting rifle.

Mr Hustler, who ran the drainage company Clear-Flow from offices in the Old Foundry, Bissoe, was shot at close range while Mrs Hustler was also shot. She was rushed to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth where doctors managed to save her.

Cock himself was also injured in the attack and police officers were forced to wait until he recovered before they could interview him.
