Falmouth shopkeeper wins national window competition Falmouth shopkeeper wins national window competition

A shopkeeper from Falmouth has won a national window display competition and is now looking forward to a holiday worth £2,000 as a prize.

Denise Norwell, who runs Quay West Living at the bottom of Killigrew Street, beat other home retailers to the post for her nautical display over the summer and has won a trip to the Ice Hotel in Sweden.

The competition was open to all retailers across the country that sold the items made by the designer Sagaform. The judges said the fishy display was “an imaginative use of colours, fabrics and materials that created a co-ordinated eye catching display.”

We are a small independent shop in a small town that has suffered in the recession like everyone else but we always try to make our shop window a 'little ray of sunshine' for people who walk by, regardless of if they are spending or not. People have been very kind in their comments and that makes it all worth the time and effort to do something special. To win a National competition is an added bonus and we are over the moon and very proud to help show Falmouth in a positive light nationally.

Denise.
