Over 150 students met at Falmouth Moor today in the latest protest against the government’s education cuts.
Students both past and present from University College Falmouth, University of Exeter, Falmouth Marine School and even pupils from Falmouth School were displaying banners and singing chants.
Jake Woodier, an 18-year-old student at Falmouth Marine School who had helped organise previous protests in Falmouth, said that the cuts would send young people down the poverty drain.
“This is our society and no matter what the cabinet full of millionaires says we won’t stop until we win.”
Tom Baldwin, a member of the Socialist Party from Bristol came down to Falmouth to speak at the protest. He was met with a cheer when he said: “We will not pay for a crisis that we didn’t cause.”
Chants sang during the protest included: “When they say cut back we say fight back,” and “no ifs, no buts, no public sector cuts.”
