The battle to save Falmouth Coastguard faces one of its most important days today as shipping minister Mike Penning visits the Pendennis Point station.
The MP will be meeting members of staff at the world famous centre, and will be discussing the plans for restructuring the UK's coastguard service.
Proposals put forward by the Maritime and Coastline Agency would see Falmouth's operation switched to a daylight hours only service.
The plans have been met with anger across the country, with many fearing they will put the safety of seafarers at risk.
Mr Penning will hear alternative proposals for the future of the service drawn up by the experts in Falmouth.
The Government has insisted no plans have yet been finalised.
The minister will also be meeting with the Falmouth Harbour Commissioners to discuss their plans for the future of Falmouth as a port.
