Falmouth fish fans will have to wait a little longer after a plan to open the doors for a special one-off event at the town's new aquarium was cancelled.

The attraction, on Church Street, was due to open tomorrow from 12pm for "Fish Feeding Time" - showcasing the building's finished ground floor and "Tropical Zone" tanks.

But the sneak peek has now been scrapped, with curious passersby forced to wait until the official opening day.

A message on the aquarium's Facebook page reads: "We are so sorry to say that we will have to wait until we officially open to the public before showing you any 'sneak peaks'.

"We are just so excited to show everyone the fish, we want to be able to show you how they feed, and how they interact, and their beautiful colours!

"But we will have to wait until the official opening debut."

Aquarium owners Johanna Naradzay and her husband Barry are still working on the "Cornish Coastline" part of the attraction, which will feature a six foot porpoise skeleton that is currently being prepared by experts in Bristol.

Once everything is in place and the fish are finally acclimatised, the aquarium will be open for business - possibly as soon as the end of this month, Johanna said.
