Budock Women's Institute

Christmas came early for members as they entered a wonderfully decorated village hall. Much praise must be given to the village hall committee who made the room look so festive and welcoming.

The meeting took on a different format as members took a seat to be entertained by three WI members from Columb Minor WI. Festively dressed they sang a selection of Christmas songs and carols, encouraging members to join in. In between songs they gave short readings of poetry. One was very politically correct which received much applause. Their mini pantomime, Cinderella, had members laughing out loud. Guests were thanked by Mary McCabe. They then sat down for a festive tea.

The business meeting ended the afternoon with the president, Jean Head, saying how much the Garden Centre trip was enjoyed, and that the “Tinbola”stall at Budock late night shopping was a success. Four members have volunteered for the quiz at Helston and members were told of the buffet lunch on January 2 at County House.

Members were reminded to read the resolutions in “WI Life” and remove the form with their vote on it to bring to the January meeting. The new WI logo was received very unenthusiastically. Jean finished by asking members to give some thought to the venue for the Birthday Party in February.

After the exchange of gifts from the Bran Tub and “Merry Christmases” ringing out around the room, the meeting finished at 4.30pm.
