Three companies got together to organise a day out to remember for some of their Cornwall-based clients.

Wealth management specialists Brewin Dolphin, real estate firm Savills, and Falmouth and Launceston-based chartered accountancy firm Hodgsons, combined forces to arrange an event that began with breakfast at the St Mawes Hotel. This was followed by a Champagne reception and lunch at the historic Boconnoc estate near Lostwithiel.

Vintage classic and performance cars played a key part in proceedings with a number of guests taking advantage of the good weather to drive themselves to the venues in a range of impressive models including Aston Martins, an E-type Jaguar and a Rolls Royce. They also participated in a treasure hunt en route.

Hodgsons’ managing partner, James Hodgson, remarked that the informality of the event meant everyone felt relaxed. “It was great to be able to chat and socialise outside of the confines of an office,” he said. “We live in a beautiful part of the country and it felt right to try and make the most of our environment.”

Brewin Dolphin division director, Jonathan Croggon, added: “It was lovely to see all the cars. For the journey to Boconnoc, passengers were given quiz questions to answer – a challenge they all seemed to enjoy.”

When Jonathan Cunliffe, head of office for Savills Cornwall, arrived in St Mawes visibility was poor. “When I got there first thing it was blanketed in thick fog, but it soon cleared and was replaced by clear blue sky and warm sunshine - perfect for a gathering of classic and performance cars on the quay,” he said. “It was a real treat to see such an eclectic collection of vehicles together and to meet people in such a lovely setting.”
