HELSTON based staircase specialists, Spiral UK, took the Manufacturer of the Year title at the Cornwall Manufacturers Group glittering ceremony held at the Atlantic Hotel in Newquay.

The awards, hosted by Mike Rigby, UK head of manufacturing at Barclays, recognised Spiral’s exceptional visual and change management practices, communication strengths, lean manufacturing techniques, growth, partnership work and marketplace confidence.

Managing director Eric Nicholls said: “We were very honoured and delighted to have won this award especially when faced with such strong competition from across the county. All the team have worked extremely hard this year, so it is all the more satisfying that this has been recognised by the judges.”

Regularly featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs, Spiral has worked on a number of stunning projects across the UK along with some of London’s most iconic offices, including Lego’s head office and the Gherkin.

The company has invested considerably this year in new high-tech equipment, modernising their premises and developing environmentally friendly working conditions. Next year promises to be another confident year with a growing order book and further substantial investment planned.

Mr Nicholls added: “We’re still growing and recruiting, continuously thriving to achieve more for the industry, manufacturing, our organisation and those who work with us and are delighted to play our part in Cornwall’s £800m manufacturing industry."
