South West Conservative MEP, Giles Chichester, is visiting the University of Exeter Joint Campus with University College, Falmouth, at on Friday.

The new Joint Campus at Penryn is the first in Britain to offer courses on Renewable Energy to students following a BSc Engineering programme. Mr Chichester has been invited to discuss with these students the details of current EU energy policy and provide information about European sustainable energy developments.

He is Leader of the British Conservative Delegation in the European Parliament and Energy Spokesman for British Conservatives and for the European People's Party in the Parliament. He is also Co-ordinator of the Parliament's Energy Committee and Chairman of the European Energy Forum, which bring together MEPs, EU officials and industry representatives to discuss all aspects of energy policy.

Also on Friday the MEP will visit Kensa Engineering at Chacewater, near Truro at the invitation of Kensa chairman, Richard Freeman.

Kensa Engineering are one of the UK's leading renewable energy companies and the only UK manufacturer of a full range of ground source heat pumps approved under the government's clear skies' renewable energy initiative. Currently, Kensa is involved in the multi-national EU-funded Sherhpa research project to develop the next generation of heat pump systems with low global warming potential, using natural refrigerants such as ammonia, propane and carbon dioxide.
