Another school holiday and another guaranteed week of fun at the Maritime Museum with a whole host of free family activities focused on safety at sea.

From lifesaving demonstrations to Morse code, rocket making and storytelling, you will find something for everyone at Falmouth's Maritime Museum from May 24 to June 1.

What's more, all activities are free with the standard admission price and even better, when you've paid once you can visit again for the next 12 months for free!

The hands-on holiday fun is centred around a RNLI themed Safety at Sea week, including an awareness film, demonstrations of life saving equipment and children's quizzes.

Go back in time, to an age before texting was the norm, and discover the art of Morse code and impress your friends with your new communication skills. And, for all scientists, drop in between 12-4pm and make your own mini rescue rocket. Can you fire a line to the shipwrecked crew?

Not to be missed, at 12.30 and 2pm, is the fascinating story of Cornishman Henry Trengrouse from Helston, who saved hundreds of lives at sea with his rocket-line and breeches buoy invention.

Hear the story and take part in the rescue' of a puppet sailor across the Museum's Tide Pool - starting with a water powered rocket.

Finally, finish the day by exploring the museum's galleries to find out about real Cornish wrecks and rescues.

With summer approaching and thoughts of jumping into the sea, there's no better time or place to learn about our coastline.
