On Sunday the theme of the service was the witness of Methodist Homes and was led by Gillian Collins. The organist was David Collins. Ginny Leggo spoke to the young people about a couple who went to live in Langholme when they were no longer able to look after themselves. She illustrated her talk with a model of them in their cottage and when the young people went to their class they made a model of Langholme in its garden surroundings.

The readings from Lamentations and Luke (the Prodigal Son) were read by Michael and Christine Day. Gillian’s talk focused on the work of Methodist Homes, particularly their work with dementia patients. Having dementia was compared to the Prodigal Son who was living in a strange land as for many sufferers this is how they feel. We were also reminded that those living with dementia have a lot to teach us in experiencing the world in which we live, moment by moment.

Gillian led the prayers of intercession. Prayers were said for those who suffer from Dementia and for members of our own church family in need of comfort and support.

Coffee mornings continue on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The art exhibition in the foyer is by Joan Wallis, Ann Walker and Jean Northey and is open Monday-Saturday 10am-5pm. The memorial chapel with use of the prayer tree is open every day for personal prayer. On Sunday there is Cafe style worship, 10am for 10.30am, led by Deacon Michelle when the theme will be commemorations of WW1.
