The service on Sunday was taken by David Kneebone assisted by Margaret Dancer. Birthday wishes were sung to Hilary Mehaffey.

David's call to worship was from Corinthians chapter 15 after which Love Divine was sung. Margaret then led the prayers of thanksgiving and forgiveness starting with silent prayers for our own concerns and then prayers thanking God for His wonderful creation that surrounds us. Prayers of forgiveness were asked for when we sometimes do not think of others needs and for all our wrongs of the week. David read from Matthew chapter 16 v 21-28.

He then said “Of all the Christian faith the resurrection is the most important. If the resurrection never happened there would be nothing. There are reasons to believe in the resurrection, the empty tomb that stands to say the Saviour lives. When you go to places like the sea of Galilee, where Jesus walked on the water and on the hill of the scull where Jesus died on the cross for us, we know that these places show that Jesus did live and over three years preached with His first followers, the disciples, and on the third day after His crucifixion He rose from the grave. Jesus calls all of us to have a relation with Him just like the disciples did.”

In the prayers of intercessions Margaret prayed saying "What a friend we have in Jesus" and knowing Him gives us peace. Prayers were said for the troubles of the world and all those who suffer through war, for the desperately poor, victim's of injustice, those in care and nursing homes, those who need the use of the food bank and those who are bereaved or unwell.

The closing hymn was "In heavenly love abiding". The pianist was Margaret Dancer and tea and coffee was served by Daphne and Margaret. The service on Sunday will be taken by Lucille Rowse.
