Inner Wheel Club of Falmouth

At the July meeting, held at the Green Lawns Hotel, Eileen Newman was inaugurated as president for 2009-2010 and President Robert Holmes of Falmouth Rotary Club was a welcome guest.

Retiring president Mary Gilbert said that she had thoroughly enjoyed her year and thanked her committee and all members for giving her such good support and for the happy atmosphere in the club. She wished Eileen a very enjoyable and productive year.

When Eileen received the president’s chain, two candles were lit, one commemorating the friendship of the past year and the other heralding friendship to come. This is President Eileen’s third year in this office and she is also well know for her work in Mawnan Smith.

President Eileen is a member of the Womens’ Institute, the Panto Group and with her husband, Ian, she helps to run the annual craft market and the village show. Her charities for the year are Cancer Research and Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.

Her officers for the next year will be: secretary, Valerie Reilly; treasurer, Pamela Price; overseas organiser, Rosemary Ball; past president, Mary Gilbert, club correspondent, Winifred Bennett, committee members, June Furlonger and Joan Pearce.

President Eileen has great plans for activities, which will be carried out through the year and has already booked interesting speakers for each meeting.

The next meeting will be held on September 4 at the Green Lawns Hotel when Janine Sargent will talk on Hearing Dogs for the Deaf accompanied by one of these well trained dogs.

If you would like more information about the club please call Eileen Newman on 01326 250334.
