The service on Sunday was taken by David Richards. The service started with the singing of the hymn “Lead us Heavenly Father lead us.”
The first lesson, Psalm 23, was read by Cynthia Prior and the second lesson, John chapter 10 v 1-10 by Nancy Christophers, “The shepherd and his flock,” from which David based his sermon/ David said while he was on holiday in Turkey he saw a shepherd leading his sheep, not like in this country where shepherds work with their dogs to lead them. Like the shepherd, Jesus knows us all and He knows all our concerns. David also talked about Street Pastors and how they go on the streets from 10pm to 3am on Saturdays to help to care for youngsters out enjoying themselves. Just by being there it helps youngsters who get into trouble. He said it helps to know they are being prayed for by prayer pastors.
In the prayers of intercession, prayers were said for the armed services in troubled parts of the world, for the community and those in care and nursing homes and for students in the midst of taking exams in colleges and universities. The service ended by singing “Blessed Assurance.”
Tea and coffee were served at the end of the service. The preacher on Sunday will be Amanda Jenkin. All welcome.
