The Rev Stephen Tudgey officiated at the 8.30am communion service. The annual Sea Sunday service took place at 11am with a full church. The Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines led the parade from the Moor to the church. The procession included The High Sheriff, Lady Mary Holborrow, the Lord Lieutenant and the Mayor of Falmouth Councillor Geoffrey Evans and his Chaplain the Rev Barrington Bennetts. Also in attendance was Sarah Newton MP. The lessons were read by Lady Mary and Sarah Newton. Commodore Tony Hogg led Nelson's prayer.

There were representatives at the service from all walks of life, including a large contingent of uniformed youth organisations. The service was conducted by Mr Tudgey and the preacher was the Rev Sean Carter, Royal Naval Chaplain from RNAS Culdrose. The Rev Fr Mark Mesley, Chaplain to the port of Falmouth, was also present.

In his address the chaplain from Culdrose highlighted the important work of seafarers in bringing many essential goods to this country, and the role of the navy in patrolling the seas and dealing with issues such as piracy which is a major problem for shipping in certain parts of the world .

A detachment from the Band under Col Sergeant Rich Fenwick played an introductory piece of music and accompanied some of the well known hymns. Buglers Corporal Russ Piner and Sergeant Chas Brown provided the last post and reveille from the gallery of the church. KCM choir, under the direction of Lance Foy and Angus Webster, led the singing of the hymns and the choir sang the anthem “From all that dwell below the skies” by Thomas Attwood Walmisley. The service concluded in the traditional manner with an organ improvisation on “Sailing.”

Evensong was conducted by Mr Tudgey. The choir sang the anthem “Sanctus” by Schubert. Organ voluntaries were Andante by Eric Thiman and Aria by Handel.

The Trengilly singers, with their musical director Melanie Uren, gave the Saturday lunch time concert, the programme was sung completely unaccompanied and included a wide variety of music from 16th century motets, madrigals and Glees, folk songs, shanties and spirituals.

On Saturday at noon Georgina Sheriff, organ student at the RCM and Saturday, July 30, Sarah Whomisley, with Dolce Consort, a recorder ensemble will be giving the lunch-time concert. Free entry retiring collection for ShelterBox and the church. No Saturday concerts during August, but already there is interest for a series in September and October. Thursday, August 18, 7.30pm, organ concert by John Keays from Nottingham in aid of the RNLI.
