Falmouth Parish Church of King Charles

The Rev Stephen Tudgey was the celebrant at both the 8.30am said communion and the 10.30am sung eucharist for the patronal festival and the fourth Sunday of Epiphany.

Sarah Corbett was server and Angus Webster accompanied the mass setting, New English Mass, by Patrick Appleford and provided the organ voluntaries. Choir members Peter Coomber and Patrick Clarke read the lessons and Julie Foy led intercessions. The choir sang the Stanford setting of psalm 150 and during the administration of the communion, By Gracious Powers, from Dietrich Bonhoeffer, music by Richard Lloyd soloists were Mike White and Isabelle Taylor and the communion hymn, Holy Spirit come confirm us, soloist Eileen Rogers. Following the service there was a patronal festival lunch held at the Greenbank Hotel.

Priest-in-charge officiated and led the intercessions at sung evensong and the preacher was the Rev Roy Howe. Barbara Martin and John Pyatt read the lessons. The choir sang the anthem, Ave Verum by Mozart. Organ voluntaries were Musette and March from the Occasional Oratorio by Handel.

Events this week: Thursday, 9.30am, Charlie's Angels; 10.30am said communion. Sunday, 8.30am said communion; 10.30am sung eucharist; no evensong but at 4pm the Mayor's civic service and parade to celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The preacher will be the Mayor's chaplain Colin Brown CA and music will include Walford-Davies setting of psalm 121, Vaughan-Williams arrangement of The old Hundredth and the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah. All welcome.

February 25, 5.30pm, KCM Choir will sing evensong at the Cathedral and a memorial concert for Barrington will take place at KCM on March 17 at 2 pm with a exhibition of photos and Barrington memorabilia.
