The club’s winter session ended with a most successful dinner and prize giving at Falmouth Golf Club when the guest of honour, introduced by chairman Alan Cox, was Richard Thomas, well-known photographer of Helston, who congratulated the club on maintaining its reputation as a welcoming and friendly organisation.

After a sumptuous meal the organisation of the prize giving was in the capable hands of club competition secretary Paul Young. Most successful recipient of awards was popular Sue Hutchings who also gained the Russell Dunstan Trophy for the member who had made most progress. Secretary David Buckby thanked Paul for his efficient handling of the competitions throughout the session.

Trophy and first prize winners were: Sue Hutchings, David Buckby, Joan Cornes, Peter Cornes, Bryan Angove, Peter Batson, Tony Perkins. Other award winners were: Judy Trewhwella, Carol Churcher, Paul Young, Trevor Wright, Sue Richards, Daniella Buckby, Barry Kelly and Gerry Curtis. An award for club members of the year went to Elizabeth Allen and Alan Cox.

At the close of the proceedings Anne Cox made a presentation of an exquisite quilted wall-hanging to be sold in aid of the RNLI funds to co-ordinator Anne Hunt.
