On Saturday the funeral was held of June Grenfell, a long time faithful stalwart of KCM and mother of Gibson, one of the church wardens. The service was conducted by the Rev Stephen Tudgey, Gibson gave the eulogy and Zena Street gave a reading. A full choir led the singing and sang the anthem “By gracious Powers,” music by Richard Lloyd, and also an unaccompanied setting of the Nunc Dimittis. The service concluded with the Tocatta from Widor's fifth symphony. The Saturday lunch time concert was given by Fay Colloff, flute accompanied by Morwenna Bennett.
The Rev Harry Jackson was celebrant at the sung eucharist, with Jan Winslade minister and Sarah Corbett server. Mike White and Peter Coomber read lessons and Julie Foy led intercessions. The choir sang the anthem “Fairest Lord Jesus”. Organist was Angus Webster. Jan Winslade, lay reader officiated at sung evensong and Mary Wey and Robert Martin read lessons. Organ voluntaries were Pastorale Sydney Watson and Grand March by Lullay.
Saturday’s free lunchtime concert at noon is given by the Mylor Singers led by Bridget Westlake. July 14th, the Lemonaires, a well known local male voice group.
